The unstoppable KDI
October 2021 – Kohler never ceases to amaze, and at the EIMA International trade show it will debut two new models of the KDI family, the company’s most successful range of diesel engines: the KDI 3404TCR-SCR Power Pack and the KDI 2504TCR Agri.
The KDI 3404TCR-SCR Stage V in the Power Pack version is the most powerful engine in Kohler’s offering, with performance capable of reaching 650 Nm / 1400 rpm of maximum torque and 112 kW / 1800 rpm of maximum power (105 kW / 2200 rpm). Currently, no engine can boast similar performance at the same displacement. The Power Pack version is in fact a ready-to-run engine. Thanks to its compact size and integrated aftertreatment, it can be adapted to any machine or application. Engines today are becoming increasingly complex, and for Kohler, offering the highest levels of technology while guaranteeing simplicity for the manufacturer is a true mission. The KDI 3404TCR-SCR Stage V in the Power Pack version is an extremely simple choice: everything is already assembled, ready to be installed and adaptable to different types of machines (agricultural, industrial, or in the construction industry), also thanks to the generous performance features of the engine and the selected accessories available. The same engine model is also available in the Electro Pack version.
Kohler’s strength lies not only in offering ready-to-use solutions but also specific versions, such as the KDI 2504TCR Stage V Agri model. This is a customized variant strictly for tractor installations, with compact aftertreatment system mounted on the engine and a dedicated layout for the brake compressor and air-conditioning compressor, mounted in front.
The performance features are top-notch: 315 Nm / 1500 rpm of maximum torque and 55 kW already from 2000 rpm of maximum power. Therefore, this is a highly versatile engine thanks to the possibility to work also at low rpm while maintaining the expected performance and at the same time saving on fuel consumption. This is made possible by the very high torque values, which are reflected in an engine responsive to work loads even at low speeds, making it even quieter and more comfortable also with the addition of counter-rotating shafts. “Unstoppable is not just about the individual engine, which offers reliability to the end user, but it is also about the entire KDI family, which grows and evolves based on the needs that manufacturers highlight over time,” commented Mauro Mancuso, Kohler’s Senior Manager – Product Marketing, Industrial/Utility.
