What's an automatic transfer switch (ATS)? Why do I need one?

The ATS is the brain behind your generator system. It continuously monitors the power coming from your utility. When the power goes out, the ATS automatically transfers power from the utility to your generator. When utility power is restored, the ATS turns off your generator and transfer back to power from the utility grid. Prices start around $500.

PRODUCT WITH POWER RELAY MODULE

What’s a Power Relay Module (PRM)? And why do you want one? If you prefer a smaller generator, you can prioritize what you power with a PRM. During a power outage, your entire house is connected to generator power—but your PRM cycles some circuits on and off to prevent overloading. Here are some potential generator matches with a PRM.
